NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS ARCHIVE

SECURITY ALERTS ARCHIVE

Serious incidents of crime will be communicated using a timely email message to the campus and to community members who are registered to receive security alerts. Security alerts will be infrequent and reserved for the most serious incidents of crime in which a community threat is perceived. To learn more about security alerts and understand when and why they are sent, read the Security Alerts Guidelines.

The approximate boundaries of the area covered by security alerts can be found on this Alerts and Notifications Map.

Security alerts from the past six years are posted on the Department of Safety & Security's website. Anyone interested in viewing security alerts from the past seven years can email cops@uchicago.edu with their request.

CRIME NOTICES ARCHIVE

These opt-in notices will be communicated using a timely email message to the campus and to community members who are registered to receive crime notifications. These notifications are sent on a timely basis for the following three types of off-campus crimes reported to the University of Chicago Police Department (UCPD): Homicides, confirmed shootings of persons, and patterns of robberies. Patterns are defined as three or more incidents of crime with characteristics that suggest they may be related.

All other violent crimes are reported in the opt-in UCPD Daily Crime Bulletin.

The approximate boundaries of the area covered by timely crime notices and the once-a-day crime bulletin can be found on this Alerts and Notifications Map.

A complete list of all crimes reported to the University of Chicago Police Department can be found on the UCPD Daily Crime Log.
