Kimbark South Parking Garage

A new parking garage at 6021 S. Kimbark Avenue will open in January 2023.

Monthly parking permits are available to faculty, staff, postdoctoral researchers, other academic appointees, and students (by year) on a first come, first served basis. Permits can be purchased by filling out the parking permit application online or in person at the garage when it opens. The monthly rate for parking at the Kimbark South Garage is $160.

Hourly rates at the Kimbark South Parking Garage are:

• 0 to 2 hours — $13

• 2 to 3 hours — $17
• 3 to 4 hours — $23 
• 4 to 24 hours — $29 

On weekends there is a flat rate of $11 for 24 hours.

Members of the University community with an active UChicago ID can park for free after hours at the new Kimbark South Parking Garage between 5 p.m. and 3 a.m., seven days a week. Those who access the garage after hours without a parking permit must exit the facility by 7 a.m. each day to avoid daily parking fees.

There are license plate recognition cameras at the garage gates for monthly permit holders, so your license plate will serve as your access permit. Monthly permit holders can also use their UChicago ID for access, as at the Campus North (Ellis) garage and Lexington parking lot. 

Electric vehicle charging stations will be installed in the Kimbark South Garage in the spring of 2023. Initially, there will be four spaces for electric vehicles, however the garage has been designed to add more in the future. 

The office hours for the garage will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mondays thru Fridays.
