Security Alert

Saturday, September 24, 2022

At approximately 8:30 p.m., Saturday, September 24, 2022 – A University student was walking on East 61st Street between S. Drexel and S. Ingleside when he was approached by an unknown subject riding a bicycle. The suspect made a threatening statement to the victim and took the victim’s wallet and fled southbound in the alley. The victim reported no physical injuries. UCPD is investigating this case.

Be alert and aware of your surroundings at all times. Do not resist an armed robbery unless absolutely necessary. Avoid using cell phones or other electronic devices while on the street. When walking, try to walk with a group or have a friend walk with you. There is safety in numbers.

Familiarize yourself with the location of the University’s emergency phones. If you see suspicious activity, please report it immediately to police by activating an emergency phone or by calling the UCPD when you get to a safe location. Use the UCPD’s Safety Escort Program and when possible use public transportation.
