Residential Security Assessments
The safety of our students and the community is our priority. The UCPD offers free Residential Safety Assessments for anyone who lives off campus within the UCPD’s patrol area. Conducting Residential Security Assessments allows us to reduce residential off-campus risks and improve the quality of life for community members.
The UCPD Safety Assessment includes:
-
Providing residents and home-owners with information and strategies that enhance home security and personal safety
-
Refining and developing residential environments to reduce crime
-
Enhancing security awareness
-
Inspecting windows, doors, and locks
-
Reviewing exterior lighting
-
Inspecting landscaping to minimize concealment opportunities for criminals
-
Assessing alarms, cameras and access controls if applicable
A department member(s), along with the resident/owner, will conduct a comprehensive tour and assessment of the residence and provide a security recommendation report. Recommendations will be made to maximize residential safety but cannot guarantee the elimination of crime. The UCPD officers will be using a checklist based on the crime prevention approach of CPTED (Crime Prevention through Environmental Design).
Appointments for assessments will be offered based on availability.
