DuSable Lake Shore Drive Pavement Repairs

SEPTEMBER 7, 2023  

The city of Chicago's Department of Transportation announced it will be doing roadwork on South DuSable Lake Shore Drive from 31st Street to 57th Drive, which could result in noticeable delays for UChicago commuters.

Pre-staging work will begin on Friday, September 8. Southbound DuSable Lake Shore Drive will be reduced to one lane from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Beginning on Monday, September 11, southbound DuSable Lake Shore will be reduced to one lane on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The road will be reduced to two lanes outside of those hours. The work is expected to last approximately three weeks.

Work is then expected to transition to the northbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Drive beginning on Monday, October 9, and last for approximately three weeks.

SEPTEMBER 13 UPDATE:

As a result of the construction on Lake Shore Drive, the Downtown Campus Connector will be rerouted on the southbound trip from downtown.

Shuttles making the return trip from downtown to campus will instead be using Roosevelt Road to South Wabash Avenue to East 14th Place, then to South State Street back to campus. 

No regular bus stops will be missed, but expect to experience arrival time delays of 30 minutes or more.
