Chicago Half Marathon & 5K Traffic Impacts

SEPTEMBER 5, 2023  

The 2023 Chicago Half Marathon & 5K will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2023, in Jackson Park, and will result in street closures that could affect travel around the University of Chicago's Hyde Park campus.

Beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, the following streets will be closed to traffic until 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 24:

  • East Hayes Drive from South DuSable Lake Shore Drive to South Cornell Drive
  • South Richards Drive from East Hayes Drive to East Marquette Drive

Beginning at 6 a.m. on Sunday, September 24, the following streets will be closed to traffic:

  • South Cornell Drive from East Hayes Drive to East Marquette Drive until 9 a.m.
  • East Marquette Drive from South Stony Island Avenue to South Cornell Drive until 8:30 a.m.
  • East Marquette Drive from South Cornell Drive to DuSable Lake Shore Drive until 11:45 a.m.
  • Northbound DuSable Lake Shore Drive from East Marquette Drive to Mc 7th until 10 a.m.
  • Southbound DuSable Lake Shore Drive from East Marquette Drive to 31st Street until 11:30 a.m.
  • East 47th Street from DuSable Lake Shore Drive to South Cornell Drive until 10:45 a.m.
  • East 57th Drive from DuSable Lake Shore Drive to South Everett Avenue until 11 a.m.
  • East Science Drive from DuSable Lake Shore Drive to the parking lot at the Museum of Science and Industry until 11 a.m.

There will also be curb closures on Michigan Avenue from Randolph Street through Adams Street, which could affect travel to and from the Gleacher Center downtown.
