Changes to UCPD Crime Notices
AUGUST 14, 2024
Beginning September 15, the University of Chicago Police Department's Crime Notices, which are timely notices about certain violent crimes that occur off campus but within the UCPD extended patrol area and reported to UCPD, will no longer be delivered via email; they will now be sent via push notifications on the UChicago Safe Mobile Safety App. The new method is intended to improve the timeliness of Crime Notices and increase access to the notices on mobile devices.
To ensure your uninterrupted access to Crime Notices, please download the UChicago Safe Mobile Safety App on your Apple or Android device, and enable push notifications in your phone's settings.
This change affects Crime Notices only.
Other University alerts and notifications, such as cAlerts, Security Alerts, and the Daily Crime Bulletin, will be sent as before, and you do not need to take any action to continue receiving them. This map shows the Crime Notice boundaries and the boundaries for other alerts and notifications the University sends.

Sincerely,
Eric M. Heath
