Rolling lane closures at 57th and Hyde Park Boulevard

In order to run electrical conduit across 57th Street at Hyde Park Boulevard, the Chicago Department of Transportation will be implementing rolling lane closures on 57th Street and on Hyde Park Boulevard between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily beginning Monday, February 13. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times and lane closures are not permitted prior to 9 a.m. The lane closures will last 3 – 4 weeks and CDOT will need to return in the spring to resurface the intersection.

Closure of Midway Plaisance East of Stony Island

Midway Plaisance east of Stony Island Avenue will be closed from 6 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 4 and Saturday, February 18 to facilitate the installation of a water main.

JANUARY 27, 2023

On or about the week of February 6, the Chicago Department of Transportation will reopen all lanes of traffic at the 57th Drive and DuSable Lake Shore Drive intersection to help ease congestion in the area.

Work will continue on Stony Island Avenue and Hayes Drive in their current configurations.

Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and construction signage when entering and driving through work zones, obey the posted speed limits, and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
