Crime Notice

The below describes three robberies that were reported to the University of Chicago Police Department. The three incidents share similar characteristics, and occurred within a short period of time, and occurred within close geographic proximity, suggesting a possible pattern. No physical injuries were reported by any of the victims. The Chicago Police Department is investigating the three robberies.
Sunday, March 5, 2023, at approximately 2:30 a.m., 5048 S. Cornell — A person sitting in their car at the gas station was approached by an unknown subject displaying a handgun. The suspect demanded and took property from the victim before joining three other subjects and entered a red Nissan that drove southbound from the gas station. The victim reported no physical injuries.
Sunday, March 5, 2023, at approximately 2:30 a.m., 5048 S. Cornell — A ride-share driver and his passenger were sitting in a car at the gas station were approached by two suspects armed with handguns. The suspects demanded and took property from the two victims before joining two other subjects. All four suspects entered a red Nissan that drove southbound from the gas station. The victim reported no physical injuries.
Sunday, March 5, 2023, at approximately 3:40 a.m., 1460 E. 52nd Street — A person walking on the sidewalk was approached by four subjects armed with handguns. One suspect struck the victim and demanded the victim's property. The suspects took property from the victim and entered a red vehicle that drove westbound on 52nd Street. The victim declined medical attention.
The Chicago Police Department is investigating these crimes.
