Chicago Caribbean Carnival Traffic Impacts
AUGUST 5, 2025
The annual Chicago Caribbean Carnival and parade is scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025, on the Midway Plaisance.
The band and parade participants will line up east of Ellis Avenue on the Midway from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m.
Beginning at 12 p.m., the parade route will begin on Ellis Avenue, move east along the Midway Plaisance to Dorchester Avenue, and then return via the Midway Plaisance to Ellis Avenue.
Intermittent street closures can be expected on Ellis Avenue and the Midway Plaisance during the parade.
The parade will end at 2 p.m. on the Midway Plaisance between Woodlawn and Dorchester Avenues.
In addition to intermittent closures for the parade, the Midway Plaisance between Woodlawn and Dorchester Avenues, and both Dorchester and Woodlawn Avenues from 59th to 60th Street will be closed from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., for the rest of the festival.
The festival will also affect the Central Route for UGo NightRide Shuttle Service.
To avoid street closures, UGo Shuttles on the Central Route will be temporarily rerouted. Shuttles will travel south on Stony Island to 60th Street, where they will turn right onto 60th Street to resume the regular route.
