Having reliable transportation options is an important part of staying safe. We have many ways to move safely around campus and the Hyde Park area. See the map for shuttle, train, and bus routes, Divvy bike sharing locations, and campus parking lots.

    • Mon-Fri, 6:30am-9pm, every 10-20 min

      Provides service from central points on campus to the Garfield Red Line Station, and the Arts Block.
    • Mon-Fri, 5am-9pm, every 30 min

      59th Street & Drexel Avenue: Final departure is at 8:30 p.m. Friend Center: Final departure is at 8:40 p.m. 57th Street Metra Station: Final departure is at 8:50 p.m.
    • Mon-Fri, 5am-10am, every 10 min

      The final departure from 61st Street and Drexel Avenue is at 9:50 a.m. Passengers should use the Apostolic/Drexel Route after 10 a.m.
    • Mon-Fri, 5am-10am, every 10 min

      The final departure from 63rd Street and Kenwood Avenue is at 9:50 a.m. Passengers should use the Apostolic/Drexel Route after 10 a.m.

      Picks up at both Drexel and Apostolic parking lots. The final departure from 59th Street and Drexel Avenue is at 12:10 a.m. To arrange for transportation after 12:30 a.m., University of Chicago Medicine staff should contact the hospital's security office at 773.702.6262.

      Serves Metra stations near campus, several destinations along 59th and 60th streets, and the University of Chicago Medicine’s campus.
    • Mon-Fri, 7am-6pm, 7am-8am every 30 min, 8am-10:30am every 15 minutes, 10:30am-6pm every 30 min

      The route starts at Harper Court and operates between 53rd Street and various points around campus. Once service for the 53rd Street Express shuttle ends at 6 p.m., the East Route of the NightRide service travels east on 53rd Street and can be picked up at the southeast corner of 53rd Street and Lake Park Avenue.
    • Mon-Fri, 6:30am-10pm, every 20 minutes

      This route is designed to connect the Hyde Park campus with the Gleacher Center and downtown UChicago Medicine clinics. The Downtown Campus Connector runs approximately every 20 minutes, with 15 minute fixed time points at the Rockefeller and Gleacher stop locations. Service is from 6:30 a.m. until 10 p.m., Monday through Friday.
    These shuttles run year-round, except on University-honored holidays.

      The South Loop Shuttle departs from 57th Street and University Avenue and drops off at the south entrance of Roosevelt Station in the South Loop. The shuttle departs campus beginning at 6 p.m., every hour on the hour through midnight. Use Roosevelt Station to connect to Red, Green, and Orange line trains and several CTA bus routes.
    Please note: the South Loop Shuttle does not operate during academic breaks or during Summer Quarter. All other shuttles run year-round, except on University-honored holidays.

    • Garfield Red Line Station

      The CTA Red Line travels to the downtown Loop area.

      When using this rail line, take the #55 bus route to/from the Garfield station. The University’s Red Line/Arts Block shuttle route also provides service between campus and the Garfield Red Line.
    • Garfield Green Line Station

      The CTA Green Line travels to the downtown Loop area.

      When using this rail line, take the #55 bus route to/from the Garfield station.
    • Metra: 59th Street Station

      Serves the Metra Electric District Line.

      This station is located along South Lake Park Avenue at 59th Street. Use CTA routes #2, #6, #15, and #28 to go between campus and the stop. Use University Shuttle Routes Midway Metra, Friend Center, Central, and South to go between campus and the stop.
    • Metra: 55th-56th-57th Street Station

      Serves the Metra Electric District Line.

      This station is located along South Lake Park Avenue at 55th, 56th and 57th Streets. Use CTA routes #6, #15, #28, #55, and #171 to go between campus and the stop. Use University Shuttle Routes Friend Center and East to go between campus and the stop.
    • Metra: 51st-53rd Street Station

      Serves the Metra Electric District Line.

      Located along South Lake Park Avenue between 51st and 53rd Streets. Use CTA routes #2, #6, #15, #28, #171, #172, and #192 to go between campus and the stop. Use University Shuttle Routes 53rd Street Express, East, and Regents Express to go between campus and the stop.
    • South Shore Line (NICTD)

      Runs daily between the South Bend Airport and Millennium Station.

      To access campus, use the 57th Street Metra station. Use CTA routes #2, #6, #15, and #28 to go between campus and the stop. Use University Shuttle Routes Midway Metra, Friend Center, and Central to go between campus and the stop.

UGO SHUTTLE BASICS

  • Red Line/Arts Block Route

    This route operates Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. until 9 p.m., providing service from central points on campus to the Garfield Red Line Station, and the Arts Block. The shuttle operates every 10-20 minutes, during the service hours.

    Friend Center and Metra Route

    • Operates Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

    • 59th Street & Drexel Avenue: on the hour and half hour (0:00, 0:30). Final departure is at 8:30 p.m.

    • Friend Center: 0:10 and 0:40. Final departure is at 8:40 p.m.

    • 57th Street Metra Station: 0:20 and 0:50. Final departure is at 8:50 p.m.

     

    Drexel Route

    • Operates Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. The final departure from 61st Street and Drexel Avenue is at 9:50 a.m. Passengers should use the Apostolic/Drexel Route after 10 a.m.

    Apostolic Route

    Midway Metra

    The University’s Midway Metra Shuttle serves Metra stations near campus, several destinations along 59th and 60th streets, and the University of Chicago Medicine’s campus. This shuttle operates Monday through Friday during the morning rush (5:40-9:40 a.m.) and evening rush (3:30-6:40 p.m.) periods. For estimated arrival and departure times, view the Midway Metra Shuttle schedule. The Midway Metra Shuttle stops only at the designated stops and does not pick up or drop off passengers at intersections.

    53rd Street Express

    The 53rd Street Express shuttle operates between 53rd Street and various points around campus. The shuttle operates from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The route starts at Harper Court, arriving and departing at the top (0:00) and bottom (0:30) of the hour. From 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. the shuttle will run every 15 minutes. The shuttle stops only at the designated stops and does not pick up or drop off passengers at intersections. Once service for the 53rd Street Express shuttle ends at 6 p.m., the East Route of the NightRide service travels east on 53rd Street and can be picked up at the southeast corner of 53rd Street and Lake Park Avenue.

  • The UGo NightRide Shuttle routes cover the campus core as well as the Hyde Park neighborhood with shuttles that leave every 15-30 minutes. Riders can access a shuttle within one to two blocks of nearly every building on campus. All College Housing residence halls are designated NightRide shuttle stops as well.

    • Regents Express operates from 5:20 - 9 p.m., Monday through Friday. The last run of the Regents Express leaves from Law School at 8:40 p.m.

  • You can track the movement of all UGo shuttles by visiting the PassioGO! website. PassioGO! can also be viewed as a smartphone app and is displayed on monitors in the lobbies of several buildings on campus.

  • The UGo shuttles are continually monitored and evaluated to provide the best, most useful service. You can offer feedback on your UGo Shuttle experience by filling out the UGo Feedback Form.

    Riders may also offer feedback on the UGo NightRide Shuttle program to nightride@lists.uchicago.edu.

  • If you believe you left an item on a UGo shuttle, email bus@uchicago.edu and provide a detailed description of the item. The bus@uchicago.edu email is monitored during regular business hours, Monday through Friday. If your item has been turned in to us, we will make every effort to reconnect you with it. Please allow 24 hours (or the next business day) for us to process lost and found items.

    Unclaimed items will be kept until the end of each month. Any items not claimed by the end of the month will be taken to a donation center or discarded.

  • All UGo Shuttle riders are asked to tap their valid University-issued ID or University of Chicago Medicine ID on a card reader each time they board a shuttle. To learn more about what sort of information these card readers collect, see the Shuttle ID Guidelines for Passengers. These guidelines also answer questions about who can use UGo shuttles and how to ride with visitors.

  • Any students, faculty, or staff members can use the Safety Escort Program, a service offered by the University of Chicago Police Department. If you are concerned about your safety as you walk within the UCPD's patrol area, call 773.702.8181 and request a safety escort. The first available patrol or security officer will be sent to escort you to your destination.
