Security Alert

At approximately 9:25 p.m., Thursday, November 5, 2020 – Two University students walking on the grassy area of the Midway at about 1126 E. Midway Plaisance were approached by two unknown subjects riding Divvy bikes. One of the suspects displayed a handgun and ordered the victims to hand over their property. One victim pushed a suspect and both victims ran southbound and notified a contract security officer posted at 60th Street and Ellis Avenue. The victims reported no physical injuries. UCPD has increased presence in the area.


Be alert and aware of your surroundings at all times. Do not resist an armed robbery unless absolutely necessary. Avoid using cell phones or other electronic devices while on the street. When walking, try to walk with a group or have a friend walk with you. There is safety in numbers.

Familiarize yourself with the location of the University’s emergency phones. If you see suspicious activity, please report it immediately to police by activating an emergency phone or by calling the UCPD when you get to a safe location.
