Security Alert

Monday, June 24, 2019

At approximately 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 24, 2019 – An individual not affiliated with the University walking on the sidewalk at 5700 S. Ellis Avenue was approached from behind by an unknown subject who pushed the victim to the ground and attempted to take the victim’s cell phone. The suspect ran eastbound on 57th Street and entered a waiting maroon 2017 Hyundai Elantra 4-door sedan with Missouri license plates BB5S8J. The victim reported no physical injuries.


Be alert and aware of your surroundings at all times. Do not resist an armed robbery unless absolutely necessary. Avoid using cell phones or other electronic devices while on the street. When walking, try to walk with a group or have a friend walk with you. There is safety in numbers.

Familiarize yourself with the location of the University’s emergency phones. If you see suspicious activity, please report it immediately to police by activating an emergency phone or by calling the UCPD when you get to a safe location.
