Occasional Parking Program

Even if you prefer to take alternative transportation to campus, sometimes it may be necessary to bring a car. Faculty and staff who qualify (see Eligibility Restrictions) can sign up for the  Occasional Parking Program. This program provides you with 24 free parking passes a year, giving you the flexibility to bring your car and park for free when you need to, but continue to use alternative forms of transportation as your primary mode of transportation.

How It Works

Eligible University faculty and staff will have 24 free parking passes loaded onto their UChicago ID and University of Chicago Medicine employees will receive a blank card loaded with 24 free passes, which can be used at any time. The University no longer issues parking validations for the Occasional Parking Program.

Participants in the program must reapply every 12 months from the date their free parking passes were originally used. Unused free passes cannot be carried over after 12 months.

Restrictions and Penalties

Participants may not park their vehicle at the Ellis Garage beyond 8:00am the day following use of a single occasional parking pass. Occasional parking passes are intended for one day of parking only. Vehicles found in the Ellis Garage longer than 24 hours without a valid monthly permit can be towed at the owner’s expense.

How to Register
