UGo Daytime Shuttles

New Midway Metra Shuttle

The University’s new Midway Metra Shuttle serves Metra stations near campus, several destinations along 59th and 60th streets, and the University of Chicago Medicine’s campus. This shuttle operates Monday through Friday during the morning rush (5:40-9:40 a.m.) and evening rush (3:30-6:40 p.m.) periods. The Midway Metra Shuttle stops only at the designated stops and does not pick up or drop off passengers at intersections. View the Midway Metra Shuttle map.

UGo Shuttles

The University provides free daytime shuttles service around the campus area and portions of the neighboring communities as a safe and convenient way for all students, faculty, staff, and University of Chicago Medicine staff to get around. The shuttles run year-round except on University-honored holidays.

All UGo Shuttle riders are asked to tap their valid University-issued ID or University of Chicago Medicine ID on a card reader each time they board a shuttle. See the Shuttle ID Guidelines for more information.

Friend Center and Metra Route: operates Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

  • 59th Street & Drexel Avenue: on the hour and half hour (0:00, 0:30). Final departure is at 8:30 p.m.
  • Friend Center: 0:10 and 0:40. Final departure is at 8:40 p.m.
  • 57th Street Metra Station: 0:20 and 0:50. Final departure is at 8:50 p.m.

Drexel Route: operates Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. The final departure from 61st Street and Drexel Avenue is at 9:50 a.m. Passengers should use the Apostolic/Drexel Route after 10 a.m.

  • 61st Street & Drexel Avenue: on the tens (0:10, 0:20, 0:30, etc.)

Apostolic Route: operates Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. The final departure from 63rd Street and Kenwood Avenue is at 9:50 a.m. Passengers should use the Apostolic/Drexel Route after 10 a.m.

  • 63rd Street and Kenwood Avenue on the tens (0:10, 0:20, 0:30, etc.)

Apostolic/Drexel Route: operates Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; picks up at both Drexel and Apostolic parking lots. The final departure from 59th Street and Drexel Avenue is at 8:40 p.m. To arrange for transportation after 9 p.m., University of Chicago Medicine staff should contact the hospital's security office at 773.702.6262.

  • Scheduled departures from 59th Street & Drexel Avenue:
  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.: 0:00, 0:15, 0:30, 0:45
  • 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.: 0:00, 0:10, 0:20, 0:30, 0:40, 0:50
  • 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.: 0:00, 0:10, 0:20, 0:30, 0:40, 0:50

53rd Street Express Shuttle

The 53rd Street Express shuttle runs between Harper Court and various points around campus. The shuttle operates from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The route starts at Harper Court, arriving and departing at the top (0:00) and bottom (0:30) of the hour. The shuttle stops only at the designated stops and does not pick up or drop off passengers at intersections. To ride the shuttle passengers should tap a valid UChicago or University of Chicago Medicine ID. Visit the ID & Privileges website for a listing of valid IDs. Once service for the 53rd Street Express shuttle ends at 6 p.m., the East Route of the NightRide service travels east on 53rd Street and can be picked up at the southeast corner of 53rd Street and Lake Park Avenue.

Polsky Express Shuttle

The Polsky Express Shuttle (formerly the CIE Shuttle) is another transportation option that links the 53rd Street corridor with the University’s main campus. This shuttle operates 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, effective September 6, 2016. This shuttle stops only at the designated stops and does not pick up or drop off passengers at intersections. The shuttle stops only at the Polsky Center, Shoreland Building, Booth School, and Levi Hall. Once service for the Polsky Express Shuttle (formerly the CIE Shuttle) ends at 7 p.m., the East Route of the NightRide service travels east on 53rd Street and can be picked up at the southeast corner of 53rd Street and Harper Avenue.
