Security Alert: Saturday, July 9, 2016
At approximately 3:55 p.m., Saturday, July 9 - Chicago Police and UCPD officers responded to the intersection of 54th Street and South Drexel Avenue to a shots fired call for service off-campus. Upon arrival they discovered a person unaffiliated with the University had suffered a gunshot wound to the left shoulder as a result of a drive-by shooting. A 4-door blue sedan was seen speeding northbound on Drexel Avenue from 54th Street. The victim was transported to the hospital by CFD EMS. The motive for the shooting is unknown and there is no suspect information at this time. The Chicago Police Department is investigating this shooting.
