Security Alert: Tuesday, March 3, 2015
Tuesday, March 3 – Between February 17th and March 3rd seven residential burglaries have been reported to the Chicago Police Department off campus in the area bounded by 52nd Street to 54th Street between Cottage Grove Avenue and Drexel Avenue. In 4 of the burglaries residents were home. In each of those 4 incidents a weapon was implied, but no weapon was seen. In most cases it is believed entry was made through an unlocked window or door. After taking personal property including cell phones and laptop computers, the suspects fled the residence. None of the victims reported injuries.
Residents are urged to secure windows and doors and report any suspicious persons or activity immediately to the Chicago Department (911) or the University of Chicago Police Department (773-702-8181).
