Whistles can be used to alert others that you are in danger.
The University of Chicago Police Department (UCPD) responds quickly in an emergency, but that's not all they do. Here are just a few of the services we provide to residents throughout our patrol area.
If you're concerned about your safety as you walk in our patrol area, call us at 773.702.8181. We'll send the first available patrol car to follow you to your destination.
UCPD officers regularly attend community meetings and events to share safety information. To schedule a visit to your event contact the UCPD Community Services Division at 773.702.6008.
You can register your bike with the UCPD by contacting the Community Services Division at 773.702.6008 and we'll give your bike a numbered identification sticker and put it on record with the Chicago Police Department.
Car won't start? Call 773.702.8181, and an officer will bring you a battery jump box. (The officer cannot use the squad car to jump your car, however.)
Blowing a whistle brings help when you need it. You can purchase a whistle for $2 by contacting the UCPD Community Services Division at 773.702.6008
A laminated bar code on your laptop computer will allow it to be traced if lost or stolen. Contact the UCPD Community Services Division at 773.702.6008 for more information.
The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive course for women that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, while progressing to basic hands-on defense training.
