University of Chicago Police Department

The University of Chicago Police Department (UCPD) has worked to keep our communities safe for more than 40 years. This professionally trained, CALEA-accredited police department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from 37th to 64th streets and Cottage Grove Avenue to Lake Shore Drive.

Approximately 100 state certified officers with full police powers comprise this private police department that serves as the primary policing authority on and around the University of Chicago’s campus. UCPD headquarters is located at 6054 South Drexel Avenue and is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The UCPD Field Office is located at 1411 East 53rd Street. The Field Office is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Services offered at the Field Office include property registration, fingerprinting, and reporting.
