UCPD, City Partner for Bike Safety Events
The University of Chicago Police Department is partnering with the Bicycling Ambassadors from the Chicago Department of Transportation’s Complete Streets Program to educate the community on bicycle and pedestrian safety at four events this summer.
The Bicycling Ambassadors are a team of bicycle safety and education specialists who encourage Chicagoans to ride their bikes often and safely. The Bicycling Ambassadors also work to increase the number of trips made by bicycles; reduce the number of bicycle-related injuries; and help all users – bike riders, motorists, and pedestrians - to better share roads and off-street trails.
The UCPD teams up with the Bicycle Ambassadors in high traffic areas to help educate the community on bicycle and pedestrian safety.
Anyone interested in participating in the free program is welcome to attend any upcoming event:
- June 11, 4-6 p.m., at 55th Street and Woodlawn Avenue
- June 30, 4-6 p.m., at 55th Street and Ellis Avenue
- July 14, 4-6 p.m., at the Midway Plaisance and Woodlawn Avenue
- July 28, 4-6 p.m., at 59th Street and Blackstone Avenue
