Mobile Payment System for Visitor Parking Coming to Campus
In late July, the University will be moving to a mobile payment system for visitor parking in several parking lots on campus.
Passport pay-by-phone parking will initially be available at the following locations: Chapin, Young, Dorchester, Harris, McGiffert, and Wells. Signs are being installed in these lots to indicate the new parking payment system. The University plans to add more locations over the next few months so that eventually most campus parking lots with visitor parking will have the mobile payment system.
Previously, the University’s visitor parking spots had aging meters that were often broken and became costly to maintain. Pay-by-phone parking eliminates the need to feed meters or go back to meters in person to extend the time. Many parking locations throughout Chicago use similar technology due to its ease and convenience.
There are three ways visitors can pay for their parking with the mobile payment system:
- Download the Passport app from the app store or the Google Play store
- Through the website ppprk.com or m.ppprk.com from a mobile device
- By any type of phone, call 312.273.5691
Users will be asked to set up an account and include the specific zone number indicating where they are parked. The zone number can be found on the signs in the lots where this service is available.
