DuSable Lake Shore Drive Pavement Repairs

APRIL 21, 2024

The Chicago Department of Transportation will be patching segments of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive beginning on Monday, April 22, which could result in noticeable delays for UChicago commuters.

The roadwork will take place between Roosevelt Road and 31st Street in both the northbound and southbound directions and the project is expected to last eight weeks.

From April 22 through May 6, southbound lane closures will be in effect. One lane will remain closed from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m. daily and three lanes will be closed during working hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Northbound lanes will be closed from May 6 through May 20 with one lane remaining closed from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m. daily and three lanes closed during working hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As a result of this roadwork, the Downtown Campus Connector route will be rerouted on northbound and southbound trips.

On northbound trips, the Downtown Campus Connector will take Lake Park to 47th, where it will take South Indiana Avenue to 31st Street to South Michigan Avenue, where it will then proceed on the regular route.

On southbound trips, the Downtown Campus Connector will go from its stop at the Roosevelt Red Line Station to South Wabash Avenue to 14th Place back to South State Street and from South State Street back to campus.

No regular stops will be missed, but there may be delays as a result of the roadwork.
