Chicago Caribbean Carnival traffic impacts

The annual Chicago Caribbean Carnival and parade is scheduled for Saturday, August 19, 2023 on the Midway Plaisance. 

The band and parade participants will line up near Cottage Grove Avenue on the Midway from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m.

Beginning at 12 p.m., the parade route will begin at Cottage Grove Avenue moving east to Dorchester Avenue and then return via North Midway Plaisance ending near Ellis Avenue.

Intermittent street closures can be expected on Ellis, Woodlawn, and Dorchester Avenues while the parade passes from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

The parade will end at 2 p.m. on the Midway Plaisance between Woodlawn and Dorchester Avenues. 

South Midway Plaisance will be closed from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. for the rest of the festival; north and southbound traffic will be permitted to continue on Woodlawn and Dorchester Avenues.
