About Us

The seeds were sown for the creation of the University of Chicago’s Department of Safety & Security in the spring of 2008 when a Campus Safety and Security committee was organized. The committee recommended the formation of a unit where all elements relating to campus security would be integrated into one entity. Today, under the leadership of Marlon C. Lynch, the Department of Safety & Security (DSS) includes the following areas:
